FAQs
-
TOTs (or tethered oral tissues) are also known as tongue ties, lip ties, and cheek ties. These tissues can impact your baby’s development and feeding.
-
I use an integrative whole body approach. Babies use their full bodies to feed and move and we have to look at the whole picture to get to the root of the issues.

Insurance providers often have very specific requirements they want practitioners to focus on. Being out of network with insurance companies allows me to offer a higher level of care. My services are customized, specialized, and are geared towards your specific needs and goals.

Every baby and situation is different. After we complete a thorough evaluation, we will have a better idea of what a comprehensive plan of care may look like. Ideally we should start to see some improvements after a few sessions.
Consistent carryover of your customized home exercises also supports progress.

During an evaluation, you will provide your practitioner with varied information and answer multiple questions. Your baby’s full body will be assessed through various positions and movements. If you are working towards a specific feeding goal (chestfeeding, breastfeeding, bottles or solids), we like to observe a feeding during the evaluation.

“I don't have enough good things to say about Feeding Foundations OT! I had the good fortune of being referred to Alessandra regarding some concerns that I had about my son's development, and she promptly scheduled a consultation at my home and provided exceptional support to our family. She is professional, kind, caring, and knowledgeable, and I would recommend her very highly and without hesitation to anyone seeking OT support for their child!”
— Kaitlyn
“Alessandra is really good at what she does, and you can tell she loves it and is invested in her work. She evaluated my 3 month old after we've had seemingly never-ending challenges with breastfeeding and bottle feeding. She was very holistic in her approach - assessing not just oral motor function, but overall physical function, as well as other health factors/history, temperament, etc. - and tied it all together with a plan for us to move forward. We definitely recommend Feeding Foundations OT!”
